James Kenneth “Kenny” Blain, 80 year-old Konawa resident passed from this life July 5, 2011 at Valley View Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma. He was born April 20, 1931 in Sparks, Oklahoma to parents Oscar Raymond Blain and Thelma (Turner) Blain. Kenny served in the United States Army. He then went to work for General Motors where he worked until his retirement. Kenny married Joan Cron on January 2, 1976 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The couple then moved to Konawa, Oklahoma in 1995 from Arlington, Texas. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Joan Blain of the home; two daughters, Kathie Ann Smith of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Sonja Miller of Arlington, Texas; one son, Kenneth Leon Blain of Hurst, Texas; four brothers, Raymond Blain of Konawa, Oklahoma, Robert “Bob” Blain of Bakersfield, California, Donald Blain of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Merle Blain of Maypearl, Texas; three sisters, Marie Lott of Bakersfield, California, Melba Marsh of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Margaret Outlaw of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. He is preceded by his parents and a brother Bill Blain. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2011 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the funeral service. Casket Bearers will be: Charles Freimann, Chris Freeman, Jason Blain, Brandon Blain, Keith Blain and Kelton Miller. Honorary Bearers will be: Corey Smith, Chris Blain, Jim Blain and Terry Blain.
