Kenneth Ray Stargell was born on June 23, 1940 to the parents of Joe and Mae Stargell in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of seven children in which he was a loving, caring, thoughtful and protective brother. Kenneth passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at the age of 77. Kenneth worked for Norton Chevrolet in Shawnee, Oklahoma for several years. He was a loyal and dedicated employee and during his employment he went above and beyond to serve each customer and some became long lasting friends. Kenneth united with New Hope Baptist Church of Earlsboro, Oklahoma under the leadership of Pastor Jesse Woodfork, Sr. During his membership at New Hope Baptist Church, he met and married Willie May Hinex. Through this union two children were born; Sheila Belinda Stargell and Melissa Dawn Stargell. In a previous relationship Kenneth fathered a daughter Stephanie Arlene (Stargell) Talton. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mae Lee Stargell; sister, Shirley Nash; daughter, Sheila Belinda Stargell and grandson, Walter Sanders, Jr... Kenneth is survived by his daughters; Stephanie and Melissa; grandchildren, Britney Nutt, Eric Stargell, Tanish Evan Talton, Tiffany Talton and Everan Sanders; five great grandchildren; sisters, JoAnn Hunter and Wanda Hinex both of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Loretta Dejear of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers, Randell and Wendell Stargell of Shawnee, Oklahoma; brothers-in-law, Willie Hutchinson of Shawnee and Harold Dejear of Oklahoma City; nieces, nephews and many friends. A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie D. Jacob of Jesus First Baptist Church of Stroud, Oklahoma officiating. Burial will take place at Earlsboro Cemetery, Earlsboro, Oklahoma. Serving as casket bearers are: Curtis Hinex, Michael Johnson, Johnny Ray Hutchinson, Mark Tramble and Kerry Brannon. Honorary casket bearers are: Bobby Napolean, Willie Hutchinson and Willie Nubine. Flower girls, Wanda Johnson, Valarie Bridgewater, Latecia Hutchinson and Helen Coffee. Ushers are Wanda Johnson, Lois Ann Nubine and Helen Coffee. Music will be presented by Rev. Bobby Curry.
