Kenneth Doyle Coody , longtime Seminole resident, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020, in Midwest City, Oklahoma.  Kenneth was born September 8, 1949 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Amanda (Little) and Jesse Coody.  Kenneth was a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and worked as a carpenter for the Seminole Nation.

Kenneth married Faye Kaney on October 20, 1979 in Maud, Oklahoma.  He was a former JOM Coordinator at Varnum, and he ran the former Nero program.  Kenneth loved watching Varnum basketball and his grandsons, cooking, sewing, and doing work around the old family home.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Coody of the home, one son, Kyle and wife, Kenna Coody of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one uncle, Charles Mitchell of New Lima, Oklahoma; and four grandchildren, Jordan Coody, Christian Coody, Lexie Coody, and Bella Coody.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Micco Coody; four brothers, Robert Coody, Timothy Harjo, Willea Harjo, and Joe Coody; and three sisters, Noetta Harjo, Rosanna Jones, and Jessica Coody.

Kenneth will be taken to his home located at 2505 Princeton in Seminole on Tuesday, November 10th at 4:00 p.m.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.  Rev. Ben Little and Rev. Thomas Little will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Coody/Harjo Family Cemetery in Seminole.  Casket bearers are Jordan Coody, Christian Coody, Will Foster, Storm Wise Talamasy, Andrew Burden, and Timothy Burden.  Honorary bearers are Rodney Factor, Greg Chilcoat, Clifton Tanyan, Jimmy Harjo, Sr., Aron King, and Anthony Mauk.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
