Kenna Harjo, Sr., age 79, longtime Seminole resident passed away at his home, Friday, May 16, 2008. Kenna was born December 23, 1928 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Ishlum and Eliza (Walker) Harjo. rnrnKenna served his country in the Korean War, as a Master Sergeant in the 45th Division of the U.S. Army. He was a longtime member of the Achena Indian Presbyterian Church in Maud, Oklahoma where he served as Maintenance Director. He was very strong in his faith, being baptized as a young man and attended Bird Creek Indian Baptist Church for a time, he was a faithful servant.rnrnKenna attended school in the Seminole area and received his Bachelors of Education degree and was a longtime educator in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He also work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and when he moved back to Oklahoma, he finished his Civil Service career at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City in 1987.rnrnHe married Dorothy M. (Jones) Harjo on November 17, 1980 in St. Johns, Arizona. rnrnHe is survived by his wife Dorothy Harjo of the home in Seminole. Two Sons, Kenna Harjo Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and Mark Evans of Altus, Oklahoma. Three daughters, Karen K. Harjo of Yuma, Arizona, Elizabeth Huerta of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Patricia Evans of Holdenville, Oklahoma. One Sister Ida Little of Seminole, Oklahoma.rnEight Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.rnrnHe was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.rnrnFuneral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Achena Indian Presbyterian Church in Maud, Oklahoma. Burial with military honors will take place following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Okla. With Rev. Dorsey Nero and Rev. Billy Merritt officiating. Wake services will be held 7:00 P.M. Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Achena Indian Presbyterian Church with Dan Factor and Lewis Fife officiating. rnrnCasket bearers will be:Vaughn Langdon, Ellis Little, Larry Harjo, Jr. Leandar Yellowfish, Lydell Yellowfish and Halen Huerta.
