Kay Elizabeth Hinson, 71, Shawnee resident died at her home Sunday, February 2, 2014, with her loving family by her side. Kay was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on May 2, 1942 to Lorraine (Phillippi) and Mont Hamilton Davis. Kay grew up in the Little community, North of Seminole, and attended and graduated from Prairie Valley Schools, west of Little. Kay was an educator and taught business classes at Shawnee High School for over 25 years. She taught shorthand, business classes, typing and computer before her retirement in 1994. She taught for a brief time at Bethel Public Schools and later she taught business classes at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech. Kay attended and graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and then attended the University of Oklahoma where she received her Masters of Education. She was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association, the National Education Association, Shawnee Association of Classroom teachers, and the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association. Kay was an active member of the Northridge Church of Christ. She was a woman of strong faith, who loved the Lord, and spent hours studying and reading His word. She loved her family and her grandchildren. She also loved to crochet, cook, quilt and was very talented with her handmade cards, for all occasions, which came with a personal note to each person she sent them to. Kay married Adolph Hinson on July 5, 1997 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Kay is survived by her husband, Adolph Hinson, of the home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, her daughter Tracy Noerper and her husband Rob of Nashville, Tennessee, her brother, Jeff Davis, of Seminole, Oklahoma, and her sister, Irene Lawrence, of Lubbock, Texas, and by her three grandchildren Gavin Starck, Ian Noerper and Christian Noerper. Her nieces, Donna Hardin, of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Marsha Guymon, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Linda Dowell, of Lubbock, Texas, Ann Swartz of Groesbeck, Texas, and Carol Werhan of Pittsburg, Kansas, and their children, and two nephews Owen Davis and Jesse Davis, also survive her. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the Northridge Church of Christ at 1001 E. MacArthur in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Cliff Craig will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends and family at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Tuesday afternoon on February 4, 2014. Casket bearers will be Dell Hinson, Owen Davis, Rob Noerper, Jesse Davis, Jeff Davis, Jim Hardin and J.Carl Guymon.
