Kathryn Woods

Kathryn M. Woods, 67 Kathryn M. Woods was born on October 26, 1946 as the second child to the union of the late T.J.Gray and the late Leona Earnestine Coley. Her brother Donald Ray Gray preceded Kathryn in death. Early childhood schooling began in her birth place of McAlester, Oklahoma at L’Overture High School that also had elementary grades. Later transferring to Booker T. Washington. She was baptized at an early age and joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma under Pastor T.J. Roberts. She was presently a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Kathryn became a domestic worker and a cook at Wichita Medical Center in Kansas. She also cooked for the United States Army Base at Fort Eustis in Hampton, Virginia. She met her present husband in Hampton, Virginia and got married in 1991 then retired in 2001. Kathryn is survived by her husband Charles Woods, of Seminole, Oklahoma; a step-son, Charles Jr. of San Diego, California; two step-daughters, Camille L. Brown of Cleveland, Ohio and Charla C. Woods of Akron, Ohio. She had ten step-grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren. One uncle, Theo Gray; three aunts, Edith Hankins, Gloria Gray, Margie Wooley and one special cousin, Barbara Tilford and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. March 15, 2014 at the Galilee Baptist Church. The church is located at 1025 East 9th Street, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Pastor Anthony Rhone will officiate and burial will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole, Oklahoma. Serving as casket bearers are: Reggie Wright, Haywood McGregor, Melvin Oguinn, Anwar Gordon, AntJuan Gordon and Darius Gordon. Honorary bearer is Terrick Busby. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.
