Katherine Ruth (Howell) House, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Midwest City Regional Hospital. She was born March 7, 1954 in Nowata, Oklahoma to parents Arthur "Wayne" Howell and Margrete Howell. Wayne, Margrete, her sister Jeanette and Katherine moved to Wolf and operated the Howell Ranch when Katherine was four years of age. Growing up, Katherine loved to help raise cattle with her dad and cook with her mom. Her hobbies included playing basketball, learning to play piano with Jeanette, and fishing with her cousins. She graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1972. She married Rod Lane and they had two children together, Tyler and Travis Lane. His military service took them many places, including Rhode Island, California, Texas, Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong. and Taiwan. Katherine married Pete House in 1992 in Ouray, Colorado. They shared a love for horses, the outdoors, hosting trail rides, and ranching. They loved Colorado and traveled there as often as they could. Before his death, Katherine took Pete on a tour of Alaska where he had worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. She worked at OG&E in Konawa, Oklahoma for many years before eventually transferring to Oklahoma City, where she later retired. After Pete's passing, Katherine found a good companion in Dewayne Sexton. They along with their friends enjoyed going out, getting together, and attending Thunder games. Throughout her life, Katherine was a country-girl at heart. She was proud of her sons and grandchildren and loved having them over to fish and play on the farm. She loved brush-hogging, gardening, fishing, and enjoying a glass of wine after a hard days work. Most recently, she and Dewayne enjoyed horseback riding, traveling to wagon rides and western events, and the outdoors. Survivors include Dewayne Sexton of the home, sister Jeanette Harjo, of Maud, Oklahoma, and her husband Phillip Harjo. Her first son Tyler Lane, of Norman, Oklahoma, and his wife Alisa Lane along with their children Ben and Jack. Her youngest son Travis Lane, of Panama City Beach, Florida, and his wife Rachel Lane along with their children McKenna, Lexi, and Kade. She also leaves behind three nephews, other relatives, and a host of good friends. Katherine was preceded in death by Pete House and parents Margrete Ruth Stokes Howell and Arthur Wayne Howell. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Wolf Cemetery. Andy Scott will officiate at the service. Casket bearers will be Dale Oglesby, Lance Harjo, Scott Harjo, Murphy Mullenix, Robert Sexton, and Scott Linn.
