Katherine Yarbrough Gibson

Katherine (Yarbrough) Gibson, 89 year old Konawa, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada, Oklahoma.  She was born April 26, 1930 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Albert Yarbrough and Betsy (Lena) Yarbrough. Katherine graduated from Haskell High School in Lawrence, Kansas. On March 15, 1956 Katherine married Tony Gibson in Texas. Katherine was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma the Ocese Band.  She was also a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Konawa.  She was a wonderful seamstress and homemaker.  Katherine worked for Byng Public Schools in Byng, Oklahoma until her retirement. Survivors include 6 sons, Edward Cedartree of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Glen Gibson and his wife Patti of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Tommy Gibson and his wife Trisha of Konawa, Oklahoma, Tony Gibson of Konawa, Oklahoma, Scott Gibson and his wife Debbie Lewis of Konawa, Oklahoma, Colt Gibson of Konawa, Oklahoma; 3 daughters, Ellen Ward and her husband Frank of Prague, Oklahoma, Marsha Gibson of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Tonette George and her husband Ed of Konawa, Oklahoma; a special niece, Beth Coker of Seminole, Oklahoma; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Betsy Yarbrough, by her husband Tony Gibson who died on April 13, 2003, by two daughters Toni Lynn Gibson and Bridget Hicks-Ellis, by one son Cornelius Cedartree Sr. and by 3 grandsons Keith Cedartree, Josh Cedartree and Tyler Frank Hicks. Wake services are scheduled for Friday, August 9, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with her son-in-law, Ed George officiating the service.  Katherine will be laid to rest next to her husband Tony Gibson at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be: (Grandsons) Tommy Ray Gibson, Kyle Porter, Chevy Motley, Garrett Orphan, Dylan Gibson and Tim Powell. Honorary Bearers will be: Bob George, Rex Hailey, Jerry Haney, James Motley, Frank Ward, David Tarver and Jimmy Dean Harjo.
