Kate Warren passed away peacefully in her home in Camarillo, California on June 26, 2012, at the age of 92. She will be severely missed by her family and friends. She was always ready to help anyone and often was delivering food, flowers or time to her friends. Kate was also an excellent cook, and the holidays just won't be the same without her amazing secret recipe dishes. She remained active right until the day she passed. During her last week, she was gardening and made apricot turnovers. Being an excellent seamstress as well, she was altering a new blouse until midnight after a recent shopping trip. Her energy and kindness constantly amazed us. Kate was born on December 12, 1919, in Oklahoma. In her high school years, she was the homecoming queen for Mountain View High School and enjoyed attending many annual reunions in Seminole, Oklahoma. Kate was a homemaker as well as working several jobs, including being one of the "Rosie the Riveter" girls in Oakland during WWII. Her passing was preceded by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. W. A. Nichols and her sisters, Juanita Cline & Mildred Post of Seminole, Oklahoma. Kate is survived by her son Michael (Margie) Williams of Camarillo; grandchildren Sheri (Michael) Valley of Camarillo, Carrie Williams of Santa Monica; great grandchildren Vanessa Valley of Los Angeles, Scott Valley of Camarillo; nieces Barbara Shoemaker of Illinois, Pat Atyia of Oklahoma; nephews Jimmy Ray Post of Kansas, Nick Post of Oklahoma, David Lee Post of Oklahoma. Visitation with the family will be Friday, July 6,2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.. Funeral services are set for 2:00, Friday, July 6, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, 1001 N.
