Karen Elaine Alice

Karen Elaine ( Gaines) Alice, 65, Seminole resident passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, with her family by her side after a long struggle with cancer. Karen was born on August 31, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Ollie Lee Gaines and Helen Marie (Whitehead) Quary. Karen grew up in Holdenville, Oklahoma and graduated from Holdenville High School in 1968. She married Wilber Low in 1971 and had two daughters, Tiffany Low and Nyssa Low Howard. They were divorced in 1996. On August 1, 1997 she married Lawrence Alice in Seminole, Oklahoma. Karen was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church and was their Food Bank Coordinator; she was also a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. Karen started her working career at the age of 15, at the Dairy Queen in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She worked as a Home Health aide for 10 years and was a dietician for 30 years at Seminole Public Schools. Karen is survived by her husband Lawrence Alice of Seminole, Oklahoma, one son Hunter Chandler of Seminole, Oklahoma, two daughters; Tiffany Low of Seminole, Oklahoma and Nyssa Low-Howard of Shawnee, Oklahoma.; her mother Helen Quary of Prague, Oklahoma and step-mother; Dolly Blumn of Garland, Texas two brothers Terry Quary of Oklahoma and Kevin Roland of Texas; three sisters Jo Beth Difrancesco of Florida, Nancy Kerr of Prague, Oklahoma and Linda Nguyen of Edmond, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; Niquita Low of Seminole, Oklahoma, Jade Chambless of Seminole, Oklahoma, Caito Kemp and his wife Keri, of Seminole, Oklahoma, Savanah Bowling and her husband, Zach of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Kendall Howard of Shawnee, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren; Skyler Washington, Bella Kemp, Brody Kemp, Madilyn Samilton and Lillie Hampton. She was preceded in death by her Father Ollie Lee Gaines and her grandparents who raised her Homer and Ollie Gaines. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God at 1609 E. Wrangler Blvd. in Seminole, Oklahoma with Pastor James Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, in Seminole. The family will receive friends and family at a visitation on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 7: 30 P.M. Casket bearers will be James Taylor, Terry Edgell, Caito Kemp, Curtis Tellie, Todd Staley and Zach Hampton. Honorary bearers will be Hunter Chandler, Brody Kemp, Jason Chambless and Kendall Howard. Flower Bearers will be Skyler Washington, Bella Kemp, Madilyn Samilton, Lilly Hampton and Joyce Hishaw. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
