June (Larney) Lee

June Lee, Seminole resident, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 90.  June was born on June 20, 1933 in Seminole County to Ryder Larney and Haney Micco.  She grew up around the Strother community, lived in Tulsa, OK for about 15 years before returning back home to Wewoka, OK, most recently living in Seminole.

June loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They were the pride and joy of her life.  She enjoyed attending her Native Church and was an avid member since she was 6 years old.  She loved visiting with her friends.  June made her own Seminole Tribal clothes and was well known for her patchwork clothes and her “delicious fry bread.”

June served as a Board Member for several Native American Boards while living in Tulsa.  After venturing back home to Wewoka she served as a Tribal Council Representative for Hecete Band and on numerous boards for Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.

June is survived by her son, Greg Bucher of Portalis, NM; daughter, Patricia A. Kishketon and husband, Rowe of Shawnee; four brothers, Irby Larney of Seminole, OK, Willie Larney of Seminole, OK, Randolph Larney of Seminole, OK and Russell Larney and wife, Mariam of Lamer, OK; six sisters, Hattie Daniels of Tulsa, OK, Teresa Walker of Ada, OK, Mulleana Larney and Doug Reed of Oklahoma, Samaria Rich of Seminole, OK, Lou Weaver of Newcastle, OK and Rita Larney of Seminole, OK; four grandchildren, Leighann Koshiway and husband, Joseph of Moore, OK, Nikki Reed, Tara Goodfox and Kylie Violette; nine great grandchildren, Maya and Macy Goodfox, Matthew Koshiway, Madison Koshiway, Maddox Koshiway, Andrea and Cameron Koshiway, Breonna Walker and Eben Walker; a special nephew, Brian Larney; many extended grandchildren and many other family and friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Billy Joe Lee (1994), her oldest daughter, Vicky Ann Reed (2005); her granddaughter, Jennifer Kishketon (2012) brother, Larry Joe Larney and nephew Troy Larney.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Coby Lehman, Martin Green Jr., Kalone Blackwell, Chris Wassana, Tyler Combs and Joseph Koshiway.

Honorary casket bearers will be Rowe Kishketon, Chief Greg Chilcoat, Ed Butler, Matthew Koshiway and Maddox Koshiway.

June will be taken to Seminole Hitchitee Church on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. wake service.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Seminole Hitchitee Church.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
