June Lewis “Sonny” Burgess, age 72 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Ada Care Center in Ada, Oklahoma. The first Wake Service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 13th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.  The second Wake Service is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 14th at High Springs Baptist Church of Konawa.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 15th at the Church.  Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev. Dorsey Nero will officiate.  Pallbearers are Kenneth Moore, Jr., Leo Alexander, Jr., Michael Narcomey, Donald Narcomey, Herman Foster, and Matthew Foster.  Honorary pallbearers are Bill Foster, Wayne Holata, Charles Burgess, and Allen Foster. Sonny was born on August 28, 1939 in Ada, Oklahoma to Anderson Burgess and Juanita Kathryn (Factor) Burgess.  He retired from the Army National Guard after almost twenty years of service and was a member of the High Springs Baptist Church. He is survived by two brothers, Leo Burgess and Rev. Amon Burgess, both of Konawa; one aunt, Ellen Burgess; one uncle, Roman Wood; special cousins, Joammie Wood, Cora Osborne, Mahona Jo Burgess, and William and Bob Campbell; numerous other cousins; and his High Springs Baptist Church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Juanita Burgess; one brother, Frankie Burgess and one infant sister.
