Julia “Jean” Colwell, Seminole resident, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 in Seminole at the age of 88. Jean was born on September 30, 1935 in Seminole, OK to Ezra Melvin Colwell and Lydia Elizabeth (Bailey) Colwell.
Jean retired after over 38 years from Baptist Hospital from her career as an LPN. She loved caring for others. Jean was feisty and tough as can be while also giving and loving to anyone who needed kindness. She had a passion for looking after animals, especially strays that found her home. Jean was very smart and knew everyone. She enjoyed shopping and cooking for others. Her cobblers were well known. She loved flowers and friendship. Jean treasured being a part of the “three musketeers” with her dear friends Debbie Stone and Kaye Croce.
Jean is survived by her son, Dwight Aarestad; one granddaughter, Jenna Rae Parker; one grandson, Ryan Aarestad; one step-grandson, Logan McGee; her dear friends, Debbie and Kaye; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, 8 sisters and 2 brothers.
Viewing will be Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, March 18, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK with Pastor Carl Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
