Julia Bryant-Montin

Julia Ann (Bryant) Montin, 71 year-old Cushing, Oklahoma resident and former Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at her home in Cushing.  She was born on November 3, 1941 in Seminole to parents Virgie Ruth (Carroll) Bryant and Charles Clayton “Duke” Bryant. Following High School Julia attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where she earned Bachelors of Science degree in education on May 14, 1971.  She went on to earn her Masters of Science degree in education on July 30, 1975.  Julia always kept the secret that she was on the honor roll throughout her college career. Julia went on to be an educator at Earlsboro Public Schools in 1972.  Then in 1973 she went on to teach at Cushing Public Schools until her retirement on May 23, 1997.  Julia taught both special reading and special education throughout her career. Julia was a member of the Cushing First Baptist Church, the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Education Association. Survivors include her mother, Virgie Bryant of Seminole, Oklahoma; one son, Bill Montin of Cushing, Oklahoma; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Jo Anderson of Drumright, Oklahoma, Robin J. Tyer and her husband Brad of Wyoming, Katherine Ruth Ward and her husband Charles of Wagoner, Oklahoma; one brother, Frank Bryant of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sisters, Carol Lee Hendricks of Cushing, Oklahoma, Dorothy M. Eversole of Seminole, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and a host of other family and dear friends. Julia is preceded in death by her father, Charles Clayton “Duke” Bryant; by one grandson, Joshua J. Anderson who died in 2011; by her nephew, Kent Bryant who died in 2011 and by her aunt, Imogene Koskery who also died in 2011. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Little Cemetery Chapel located in Little Cemetery.  Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
