Judy (Allensworth) Morris

Judy Beth Allensworth Morris, 68, passed from this life on Monday, January 30, 2017, at her home in Shawnee, surrounded by family.  Judy was born July 11, 1948 in Weleetka, Oklahoma, to Labe and Lucelia Allensworth.   She was a graduate of Seminole High School and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1970.  Judy began her teaching career at Varnum and Choctaw Schools, before settling at Shawnee High School, where she taught English and Journalism until she retired in 2012. She was an avid shopper who loved reading books, traveling the world and spending time with her dear friends and family.  Judy was a big sports fan, and she especially loved watching OU Football and tennis.  She was the greatest "Mimi" to her two precious grandsons, who were the light of her life.  Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Labe and Lucelia Allensworth, and her aunt and uncle, Ruth and Ray Young.  She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William "Bill" Morris of Shawnee, Oklahoma; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Shelby Morris of Ashburn, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Shelby Fidler of Edmond; cousins Dr. Ed and Reba Allensworth of Vinita, OK and two grandsons, Brody and Preston.  A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Her final resting place will be Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Judy’s name may be made to St. Jude for cancer research.  Arrangements under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
