Juanita (Carlton) Hays

Juanita (Carlton) Hays passed from this life on November 2, 2020. She was born on November 11, 1937 at home in Holdenville, Oklahoma to V.I. Carlton and Mary A. Sanders. Juanita married Bob Hays and gave birth to two sons, Timothy and Johnathon Hays.

Juanita lived and worked as a nurse and secretary in the Seminole area her entire life. She was highly active in the local Democratic party and was a strong advocate for nursing home reform and improvement. She was an active member of Saint Mark’s Episcopal church in Seminole most of her adult life. She enjoyed being active in Women’s Business and Professional Clubs and in later years volunteered her time with the Seminole Hospital Pink Ladies. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Hays, her son Timothy Carlton Hays, her brothers Wayne, Wendel and Eddy Carlton, her sister Winona Carlton Cravens and her parents Virgil and Mary Carlton.

Memorial services for Juanita will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home, 1001 N. Milt Phillips Avenue, Seminole, Oklahoma with Kent Cravens officiating. Internment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery, 13th Ave, Holdenville, Oklahoma. Time will be offered for all who wish to speak.
