Joyce Boatman

Joyce Lynn (Oliver) Boatman, 77 year old Shawnee, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at her home.  She was born May 11, 1940 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents William Edward Oliver and Neva Cecil (King) Oliver. Joyce attended Seminole Public Schools and retired as a telephone operator. On May 16, 1960, Joyce married Jack Boatman in Seminole, Oklahoma.  She always enjoyed telling how she and Jack met at the Shawnee skating rink. Joyce was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, playing dominos, camping, sewing and making clothing for her children when they were little.  Joyce loved her Lord and loved her family.  She was always involved in her children’s activities.  She was known to showing her love through sending cards offering encouragement to those she cared for. Joyce leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 57 years, Jack Boatman of the home; three daughters, Jana Sisney and her husband Trent of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jayme Boatman of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jacklyn Boatman of Shawnee, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Zackary Garrison, Daralyn Parham, Faith Sisney, Porter Sisney, and Randal Sisney; and a host of other family and dear friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and by one brother, Charles Oliver. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Larry Sparks officiating the service.  Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Casket Bearers will be: Billy Brown, Kevin Boatman, Rickey Boatman, Mason Boatman, Trent Sisney, and Porter Sisney. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
