Joseph Zechariah Wynne, 81 year old Seminole County resident, passed from this life Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Veterans Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was born April 18, 1939 in Langley, Oklahoma to parents Verlon (Kemp) Wynne and Eugene Wynne.

Joseph joined the United States Navy in 1957 where he served on the USS Jarvis and the USS Lexington.  Joseph earned the rank of E-3, the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal while serving in Vietnam.  Joseph was honorably discharged in 1970.

Joseph was a member of the American Legion Post #204 in Seminole, Oklahoma.  He had worked as a park ranger at “Devil’s Den” and as a constable at Prairie Grove Township in Arkansas.

Joseph spent his life as a cowboy and truck driver, most recently for Tyson Foods. He was an outdoors man who loved fishing and hunting.  He loved his family and friends, they were his life.

Joseph was an entrepreneur who had many ways to provide for his family.

On September 19, 1998 Joseph married Linda (Dyer) Wynne in Hindsville, Arkansas.

Survivors include his wife Linda Wynne of the home; sons, Richard Wynne and his wife Kendra of Lowell, Arkansas, Shawn Wynne and his wife Sarah of Hogeye, Arkansas, Lenard Tadlock and his wife Amanda of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Lucas Tadlock of Purcell, Oklahoma; daughters, Wendy Taylor and husband David of Hackett, Arkansas, Cindy Wynne of Okemah, Oklahoma, Peggy Baldwin of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sisters, Betty Bartholomew and her husband Dee of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Jane Birks of Lincoln, Arkansas, Judy Wynne of Arkansas, Dawn Phillips of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Pam Carpenter of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; brother, Lee Wynne of Lincoln, Arkansas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Donna Dyer of Mulberry, Arkansas; three sisters-in-law; numerous foster siblings; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved with all of his heart.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Verlon Wynne, Brothers Bill Wynne and Calvin Joe Wynne.  He was also preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Ann Dobbs and by one daughter, Phyllis Ann Wynne.

Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma with Bro. Charles Jameson officiating the service.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to American Legion Post # 204 in Seminole, Oklahoma or to the First Freewill Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
