Joseph Willie Bruner was born to Geneva Nero Bruner and Johnnie Bruner on December 22, 1943 in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma . He was the second child born of ten children. He was preceded in death by both parents and grandparents; Charlie Bruner and Sona Bruner and Abraham Nero and Jannet Ransom Nero and two sons; Norick Bruner and Joel Bruner, three brothers; John D. Bruner, Charles Bruner, and Jackie Lee Bruner. He accepted Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Konawa , Oklahoma . Joe attended school in Konawa , Oklahoma . Later, he moved to Bakersfield , California to live with his aunt and uncle; Mamie Bruner Watkins and Vernie Watkins until moving back to Oklahoma City . After moving back to Oklahoma City , his employment over the years was at the Hide Company, Honeywell, Leeway Trucking and Wilson Meat Packing. He loved people and life; he loved to joke around and was one who never met a stranger. He LOVED having family and friends over for cookouts. Also, he was known to many as “Broadway Joe” because of his CLASSY dress style and AUTOMOBILES. Joe was known for his entrepreneur skills and owned his own business “Broadway Café” located on Seventh Street off of Broadway in Oklahoma City . Joe and Patricia Cherry united in marriage and to this union four sons; Norick Bruner (deceased), Marcus Bruner, Kenneth Bruner and Dewayne Townsend all of Oklahoma City, one daughter; Bridget Bruner of Bakersfield, California. He and Shirley Jordan united in marriage and to this union one son; Joel Bruner (deceased) and one daughter; April Bruner, Oklahoma City . Later, Joe married Linda Hawkins, of Oklahoma City . Joe leaves to cherish his memories all of the above children and another daughter Linette Bruner of Bakersfield, California; a son Marco Littlejohn of Durant, Oklahoma and an aunt; Lucille Bruner Perry of Oklahoma City, four brothers; Bryant (Mary) Bruner, Errol Bruner, Michael Bruner, and David Young, two sisters; Rebecca (Willie) Henderson and Charlesetta Bruner Branton all of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by twenty three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
