Jonas Harjo, Jr., 59, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Jonas was born in Talahina, Oklahoma on January 8, 1958, to Jonas Harjo, Sr., and Diane (Wolf) Harjo. Jonas worked as a commercial and residential roofer for many years, then as a production worker for years, then retired due to illness. Jonas attended schools in the Mid-Del City School System in Midwest City, Oklahoma, for many years. He loved watching football games and was a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners Football team. Jonas is survived by his six brothers, Nathaniel Ray Wolf of Magnolia, Texas, Nathan Harjo of Byng, Oklahoma, Tommy Harjo of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Douglas Harjo of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jerome Harjo of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Shawn Harjo of Bristow, Oklahoma. Five sisters, Diane Harjo of Florida, Loretta Harjo of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Tammy Harjo of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cheryl Laskey of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Valerie Thomas of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Jonas was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Diana Harjo, his grandmother, Stella McCosar and by a sister, Patricia Harjo and a brother, Dorsey Lee Harjo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with Eugene Harjo and Jessie Wind officiating.Burial will follow at the Bird Creek Family Cemetery in Sasakwa, Oklahoma. Wake services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
