Johnny Mitchell, 70 year-old Shawnee resident passed from this life Friday, September 28, 2007 at Unity North Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was born November 10, 1936 in Hannah, Oklahoma to parents Simon Silla Mitchell and Betty (Williams) Mitchell.rnrnJohnny served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was a huge sports enthusiast who loved baseball, football, and track and was a big Oklahoma University fan. Johnny retired working for Thomas Concrete Company in Oklahoma City in 1990. He had also worked as a self-employed welder.rnrnJohnny was a member of New Hope Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma where he and his wife Ernestine (Tanyan) Mitchell were married March 10, 2001. She survives him of the home.rnrnOther survivors include three sisters and a brother-in-law, Hanna Tiger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mary Davis of Weleetka, Oklahoma and Nellie and her husband Bill West of Weleetka, Oklahoma.rnrnHis parents preceded him in death, five brothers also precede him: Sam, Albert, Josie, Jim, Chebone Mitchell and Henry McNac. One sister, Martha Ned also preceded him in death.rnrnFuneral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2007 at New Hope Church in Wewoka.
