Johnny D. Johnston, age 64 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at Jan Frances Care Center in Ada, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate, and burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Casket bearers are Dusty Herriman, Jeremy Herriman, Robert Johnston, Jason Johnston, Gilbert Allen, and Josh Sharber. Johnny was born January 21, 1955 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Charlie Johnston and Viola (Walker) Johnston. He served in the Army National Guard from April, 1969 until April, 1975. He worked as a truck driver for the oilfield industry. Johnny loved fishing, reading, watching westerns, gardening, and bird watching. Most of all, he enjoyed time well spent playing with his grand-babies. He is survived by three sons, Eric Johnston and wife, Rondee of Salem, Oregon, Robert Johnston of Konawa, and Jason Johnston and wife, Lindsey also of Konawa; three daughters, Mellissia Allen and husband, Gilbert of Kingston, Oklahoma, Kristey Mote and husband, Tommy of Durant, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Sharber and husband, Josh of Konawa; three brothers, Sonny Williams and wife, Rose Ann of Caney, Oklahoma, Clifford Hyatt and wife, Rosetta of Roff, Oklahoma, and Bobby Dale Hunt and wife, Linda of Atoka, Oklahoma; one sister, Sherry Arles and husband, Larry of Atoka; 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Viola Johnston; two sisters, Linda and Jeannie; one brother, Levi; and one daughter-in-law, Heather Johnston.
