Johnny "John" Ray Meek

Johnny “John” Ray Meek, Seminole, OK resident, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at his home at the age of 80. John was born on June 15, 1944 in Seminole to Virgil Johnny Meek and Agnes Florene (Pixley) Meek. He grew up in Seminole and spent most of his life in this area.

John married the love of his life, Ruby Troglin on July 9, 1962 at Bowlegs Assembly of God Church and they shared 62 years together. He loved taking his family camping and on trips to Branson and Tennessee. He loved his grandkids and loved when they came to visit. John loved God first and foremost and took great joy in going to church and seeing his church family. He worked in the oilfield for over 50 years and retired at 71 years of age. Oh the stories he could tell. He enjoyed watching westerns, especially John Wayne. His hobbies included caring for his animals, going fishing and playing Wahoo and Moon. He was dearly loved by his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Ruby Meek of the home; two daughters, Belinda Thoma and husband, Larry of Elgin, OK and Becky Bristow and husband, Sam of Seminole; seven grandchildren, Amberly and husband, Chris Warren, Josh and wife, Amanda Thoma, Brittany Thoma, Bryan Bristow, John and wife, Dasha Bristow and C.W. Troglin; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many other family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Charlotte Stallings and Virginia Driskill.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Josh Thoma, Bryan Bristow, John Bristow, C.W. Troglin, Jason Hudson, Lonnie Neal and Gunner Thoma. Honorary casket bearers will be Danny Driskill, Jeff Driskill, Dwain Brookshier and Charles Troglin.

Viewing will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK. The Meek family will receive family and friends for visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Swearingen Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2024 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK with Rev. Michael Tom and Rev. Larry Thoma officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
