Johnny “Leroy” Goodnight, 79 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life Monday, March 4, 2019 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 4, 1939 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Johnny Orvil Goodnight and Lela (Knight) Goodnight. He was raised by his grandparents Hope and Sadie Knight in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Leroy graduated from Butner High School in 1956. He worked for various oil companies throughout the years. He also worked for Kelsey Hayes and retired from the Goff Corporation in Seminole after working there for 18. years. Leroy married Alice Irene Long on August 6, 1959 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Leroy was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed driving around local lakes, fishing, hunting, hiking, playing guitar and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Leroy leaves to cherish his memory one son and daughter-in-law, David and Cindy Goodnight of Wewoka, Oklahoma, one sister, Melva “Bobbie” Chamberlin and her husband Russ of Sacramento, California, a special aunt, Pauline Shepherd of Wewoka, Oklahoma, three grandchildren, Clarissa Draa of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cara Forbis of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Alyssa Goodnight of Seminole, Oklahoma, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, by his wife of 41 years, Alice Goodnight who died September 12, 2000, by one son, Don Goodnight who died August 16, 2009 and by one grandson, Brandon Scott Goodnight who died on December 16, 2016. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield and Pastor Jimmy Moreland officiating the service. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole where Leroy will be laid to rest by his wife Alice. Casket Bearers will be: Keith Forbis, Rayce Forbis, Johnathan McCracken, Doug Patterson, Steve Patterson and Jimmy Long.
