Johnny Earl Duck, age 81 resident of Earlsboro, Oklahoma, and a former resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from this life at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa, Oklahoma under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Leo Payne, Tommy Tyson, David Armstrong, Gregory Kuehmichel, Jayson Smith, and Jerry Angelly. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Johnny was born November 9, 1936 in Konawa to Willie Lee “Bill” Duck and Lillie Bell (Payne) Duck. He served his country proudly as a Seaman Apprentice for the U.S. Navy from January 1958 until February 1959 when he received a Purple Heart. He married Barbara Jean Tyson November 23, 1973 in California, and he was a self-employed heavy equipment operator. Johnny was a member of the Konawa Assembly of God Church in Konawa. He loved traveling, driving his mule team and wagons, camping, and being with his family. He was well known in his community and for his famous phrase, “And, that’s the truth, brother.” He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Barbara Jean Duck of the home; three sons, Johnny Duck of Earsboro, Jerry Hayes of Earlsboro, and Tony Duck and wife, Tammy of Earlsboro; two daughters, Letha Brannon of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Jerri Angelly and husband, Jerry of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; two sisters, Billie Crownover of Jones, Oklahoma, and Anna Roe and husband, David of Konawa; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lillie Duck; two sons, David Brannon and Donnie Hayes; one granddaughter, Mindy Brannon; four brothers, Ed, Jimmy, Claude, and Harold Duck; one sister, Geraldine Meadows; and one niece, Betty Nell.
