Johnny Allen Clifton of Seminole was born April 11, 1945 in Seminole, Oklahoma to John William Clifton and Sylvia Ruth Essary-Clifton. He passed away August 22, 2016 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 71 years, surrounded by his wife and children. He graduated in 1963, after attending 12 years of school in Seminole, where he spent two years in the National Guard. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy, where he served through 1967. On March 8, 1968 he married Linda Dianne Patterson in Seminole and in June 1969 their first child, a son, was born. A second son was born February 1972. Johnny worked at AT&T for 35 years retiring in December 2003. He traveled and worked all over Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri and California. In 1986 he transferred to Dodge City, Kansas, then to Tulsa where he retired. Johnny and Linda made their home in north Seminole County. He was an avid reader, loved working crossword puzzles, and enjoyed watching western movies. His children and grandchildren were especially important to him and he loved them dearly. Johnny was a member of the Church of Christ. Johnny is survived by his wife, Linda of 48 years, children Eric and Yaneth Clifton, Aaron and Tracy Clifton. Grandchildren, Christopher Clifton, Levi Clifton, Ashley Steele, Brock Clifton, Bailey Clifton, and Garrett Clifton. Also surviving Johnny are sisters, Shirley Maye, Linda and Charles Conner, and Jo Ellen Ahmadian, and mother-in-law Pauline “Polly” Patterson. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Clifton, brother, William “Bill” Clifton, grandparents, Oren and Nora Clifton, Alex and Florence Essary, father-in-law, R.L. “Pat” Patterson, brothers-in-law, Devoe Maye and Russell Patterson, Jr.. Pall bearers will be Eric Clifton, Aaron Clifton, Christopher Clifton, Levi Clifton, Brock Clifton, Garrett Clifton, Charles Conner and Kevin Steele. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ, Little, Oklahoma, 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2016 with Minister, John Henley officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole, Oklahoma. Family visitation will take place Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, Oklahoma.
