Lifelong Seminole resident Johnny Grant Barker passed away on June 2, 2010 in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 66. He was born on July 6, 1943 in Ada, Oklahoma to Ruth (Watters) Barker and was raised by Virgil and Ethel Barker and Zella Drake. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1961. He married Billye Junelle (Davis) Barker on July 2, 1984 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma. He worked for Dolese as a rock crusher and retired in 2000. He loved to fish, play the guitar and read the Bible he was a very Godly man and involved in Prison ministries, he also taught Sunday school at Spring Baptist Church where he was a member. He is survived by his wife Billye Junelle Barker of the home, he is survived by six sons; Travis Barker of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Theodore Keefer of Ada, Oklahoma, Tony Keefer of Sasakwa, Troy Keefer of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Coker Barker of Seminole and Brandon Peak of Tulsa, five daughters; Tricia Barker of Holdenville, Tracy Wiseman of Holdenville, T.J. McDaniel of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Terri Leader of Lamar, Oklahoma and Shelia Ryals of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, two brothers: Ronnie Drake of Eufaula, Oklahoma and Forest Watters of Sasakwa, Oklahoma. Fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive him. And a sister Gena Drake of Eufaula, Oklahoma. His parents, and two granddaughters, Courtney and Brenda Berry, precede him in death. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa, Oklahoma Wake services will be; 6:00 P.M. Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Davis Cemetery in Sasakwa, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be Theodore Keefer, Travis Barker, Nick Ryals, Brandon Peak, Abe Davis and Bill Davis, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Randy McDaniel, Stormy Keefer and Ronnie Drake Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
