Johnnie (Stubbs) Collins

Seminole

Johnnie Stubbs Collins, beloved mother and sister, passed away peacefully at her home in Seminole Oklahoma.  She was a member of the Cheyarha Presbyterian Church.

Johnnie graduated from Mountain View High School as the Salutatorian in 1946.  She then attended East Central State College in Ada where she earned a degree in Education graduating in 1951.  After graduation, she married Glen C. Collins and started a life of teaching and motherhood.  She raised two sons and a daughter and earned a master’s degree of Education from Central State College in Edmond.  She taught elementary students in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Mustang, Oklahoma, retiring from teaching in 1989.  Throughout her life, she shaped and educated many young lives, leaving a legacy of educated goodness.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen C. Collins; her parents Theron Everette Stubbs and Martha Estas (Tigner) Stubbs; her sisters Inez E. Ridings, Ethelda Brinker and Clara W. Streeter; her brothers R. Hilton Stubbs and T.E. “Dick” Stubbs Jr; and her grandson Zachary B. Collins.

She leaves behind her sons, Glen C Collins Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Michael T. Collins of Richland Center, Wisconsin, and her daughter Suzanne Collins Jones of Seminole, Oklahoma; her five grandchildren Army Major Melanie D. Collins currently stationed in Germany, James C. Jones of Seminole, Oklahoma, Justin D. Jones of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sonja A. Sprecker of Wisconsin, Shawn R. Burkheimer of Wisconsin,  and her nine great grandchildren Leona A. and Shealyn D. Collins of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Devan D. and Abigale G. Jones of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Garrett R. Burkheimer, Brooke B. Hatfield, Hailey R. Hatfield, Lane M. T. Burkheimer, and Macie M. Burkheimer all of Wisconsin. She also leaves behind her sisters, Annette Myrick, Mary M. Cullison all of Seminole, and Eva Black of Oklahoma City; and her brothers J.N. “Red” Stubbs of Denison, Texas and George W. Stubbs of Colbert, Oklahoma.

Viewing will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until service begins.  Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 30, 2021 at 1:30 pm at Cheyarha Presbyterian Church.  Please wear a mask if not vaccinated.  Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Pall Bearers will be: Glen Collins, Michael Collins, James Jones, Justin Jones, Kevin Brinker and Jason Brinker.  Flowers may be delivered to Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
