John Rains

John David Rains Sr, Age 83, went to be with our Lord surrounded by his family at home on Feb 19th, 2018. John was born in rural McAlester at home on 12-20-1934 to Clarence Andrew Rains and Ollie Mae Shaw. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother C.J.Rains. John’s survivors include his wife of 61 yrs. Barbara Eileen Rains. His 3 children, John David Rains Jr of Seminole OK, Andrew Scott Rains of Orange CA, Myra Jay Pearson of Prague OK. His Grand Children, Joshua David Rains of Prague OK. Janaya Eileen Beaver of Welty OK, Samantha Lee Corley of Shawnee OK, PFC Craig Scott Pearson of Prague OK, Garrett Andrew Rains of Bend OR, Davis Olin Rains of Orange CA. His Great Grand Children Rebecca Rains, Cody Taylor, Jace Rains, Shelby Taylor, Graysen Corley, Liam Rains. His Siblings Ruby Barnes of Santa Ana CA, Anne Underwood of Shawnee OK, Betty Jensen of Prague OK, Bill Rains of Prague OK. John was a true believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gifted him with humility and a servants heart. He championed the less fortunate peoples and animals, often bringing them home to his family. Johns smile and humorous energy was renowned to all he came in contact with.  He had a passion for sports, especially the Oklahoma Sooners. He collected sports memorabilia and old Model cars. John could always be found at all his grandchildren and great grandchildren events, whether as a coach or in the stands. His work ethic is legendary; he was a machine, always willing to help his church, neighbors and family with any task great or small. A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends. If anyone wishes to donate in his honor, Wounded Warrior and your local Animal Shelter would be appreciated.
