John Kolander

John William Kolander, 71 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his home in Seminole, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.  He was born August 22, 1946 in Seminole to parents John Hubert Kolander and Eunice (McClain) Kolander. John attended Seminole Public Schools and was of the Baptist faith. On March 9, 1966 John married Carolyn Smith in Seminole, Oklahoma. John worked in the oilfield as a roughneck until his retirement.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include two sons, Johnny Wayne Kolander and his wife Rachel of Seminole, Oklahoma, David William Kolander of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one daughter, Carol Sue Kolander of Seminole, Oklahoma, two brothers, Dan Kolander of Maryland, Eddie Kolander of Jasper, Arkansas and one sister, Janice Gibson of Parrington, Texas.  John is also survived by his companion of several years, Faye Lucas of Seminole, Oklahoma, by five grandchildren, Kayla Martin, Amanda Kolander, Payton Hart, Tommy Kennedy and Tristin Kennedy, by four great-grandchildren, Joseph Martin, Carolyn Martin, Kynsley Thurman and by Koen Thurman. John is also survived by a host of other dear family and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Eunice Kolander, by his wife, Carolyn (Smith) Kolander who died July 26, 2006, by one brother, James Kolander and by one sister, Trena Kolander. Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Private family services will be held at a later date.
