John David Humphrey, 83, longtime Seminole resident died Thursday, June 3, 2010 in Oklahoma City. John was born October 10, 1926 in Ranger, Texas to John E. and Gladiola Juanita (Sinner) Humphrey. John grew up in Seminole and graduated from Seminole High School and attended two years of college. John joined the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Wasp carrier during World War II as a V-6 Fireman First Class. He was in several battles during the war and during one of the battle the Wasp sustained heavy damage. John was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma and was a Sales Manager for the BS and B and Wilson Supply Companies in the oilfields of Oklahoma. He met and married Hilda (Moore) Humphrey on August 9, 1957 in Texas and she preceded him in death on January 22, 2000. He is survived by his daughter Shawn Bledsoe and her husband Gordon of Liberty Lake, Washington. Daughter-in-law Emily Duncan of San Antonio, Texas and her children Christine Duncan and David Duncan. He is also survived by his sister Betty Chadwell of Seminole, Oklahoma and two grandchildren Blake and Hanna Bledsoe. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 P.M., Monday, June 7, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole with Rev. Russell Vicars officiating. Burial will be at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Jimmy Howard, Terry Howard, David Forson, Gary Adams, Robert Foxx, Don Chesser and David Whitley, and Lee Pippin. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
