John W. Hancock, longtime Seminole resident passed away July 11, 2007, at Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 75. rnrnMr. Hancock was born May 17, 1932 in Amity, Arkansas to Norman and Lois (Cook) Hancock. John grew up in Arkansas and Moved to Seminole, Oklahoma 49 years ago. John graduated from Allen High School and attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. He worked for Sun Oil Company for over 43 years as a gauger. John was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and served as a deacon at Harvey Road Baptist Church for some years. Mr. Hancock also served his country in the Army National Guard as a Master Sergeant from 1954-1962 and was a member of American Legion Post 204 in Seminole.rnrnJohn met and married Janette ?Hook? Brooks on June 18, 1953 in Ada, Oklahoma.rnrnMr. Hancock is survived by his wife Janette ?Hook? Hancock of the home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Two sons and a daughter in law, Jerry Hancock of Houston, Texas and Mike and Kelly Hancock of Edmond, Oklahoma, two daughters and a son-in- law, Anita and Billy Ranells of Konawa, Oklahoma and Sandra Hancock of the home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Two brothers LeRoy Hancock of Sandi, Texas and Leon Hancock of Madill, Oklahoma. Four grandchildren and their spouses, Johna and Josh Lee, Tragg and Chrystal Ranells, Kelsey Hancock and Micha Hancock and five great grandchildren Logan, Dalton and Carson Ranells and Jacie and Jalynn Lee. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister O?Lecia Knighten.rnrnCasket Bearers will be Billy Ranells, Tragg Ranells, Josh Lee, Randy Figley, and Ricky, Robby, and Terry Hancock and Mike Walker. Honorary Bearers will be Jerry Hancock, Mike Hancock, Kenneth Figley, Brian Hopkins and Rick Haworth.rnrnServices are planned for 10:30 A.M.
