John Herman Grove, age 80 a resident of Oklahoma Veterans Center of Sulphur, Oklahoma and a former resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. A wake service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18th at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Konawa. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19th at the church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. John was born on December 30, 1931 at Sacred Heart to Arthur Patrick Grove and Anna Catherine (Kuestersteffen) Grove. He graduated from Asher High School and worked as a farmer and as a warehouseman for Al Semtner Drug Depot in Dallas for about twenty years. During the Korean War, John served as a Military Police Office for the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He is survived by twenty-six nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Geraldine Lehman Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Anna Catherine Grove; two brothers, Christopher and Joseph Grove; four sisters, Sis. Mary Tarsicius, R.S.M., Theresa Sanders, Emma Semtner, and Monica Moran; and one nephew, Pat Grove.
