John Henry Greenmyer

John Henry Greenmyer, Jr., 88 CMS Sgt. John Henry Greenmyer, Jr. of Seminole, Oklahoma left this life from his home, Friday, October 26, 2012 at the age of 88. He was loved dearly and will be missed by many. John was born June 28, 1924 to John H. and Hattie Leona (Spradling) Greenmyer in McCurtain, Oklahoma. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 serving through WWII then transferred to the U.S. Air Force. He married Margie Faye Pridgen on June 20, 1950 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he and his family settled in the Strother community in Seminole county where he worked as a rural route postal carrier for the U.S. Postal service. John was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Dustin Hughes; five brothers and two sisters. John is survived by his wife of the home, Margie; his three children, Debi Greenmyer of Moore, Oklahoma, Col. John and Maribel Greenmyer III of Washington, Betty Thomas of Seminole, Oklahoma; four sisters, Ruby Stevens of Santa Maria, California, Dottie and her husband, Gene Short of Beggs, Oklahoma, Lavonne Todd of Mounds, Oklahoma, Melba and her husband, Earl Spears of Del City, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews. John is also survived by six grandchildren, Bekki (Hughes) and Shannon Remo of Norman, Oklahoma, Travis Hughes of Edmond, Oklahoma, James and Kortnee Thomas of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Marcus Thomas of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Patricia and Daniel Greenmyer of Washington, and five great-grandchildren, Kendall, Travis, and Gage of Norman, Oklahoma and Alexandria and Keevan of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. John will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Cremations service is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.
