John Daugherty

John Walton Daugherty, 88 years of age, of Shawnee died in Seminole on Friday, November 18, 2011.  John, was born January 8, 1923 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to parents, Grace (Brothers) Daugherty and Charles Saunders Daugherty. He married his loving wife, Dorothy Clark on December 12, 1964 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. John loved his farm in Seminole, where he spent many years raising cattle and hay.  He was also a skilled auto mechanic, working at several dealerships.  Later he was self-employed with his own business.  Then in 2005, he and his wife retired to their home in Shawnee. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Carl Daugherty, Howard Daugherty, Kelsey Daugherty, Aurthor Daugherty and sister, Rosa Lee Daugherty, also his son, David M. Daugherty, grandson, David Lee Daugherty and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Daugherty. John is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Dorothy Daugherty, three sons and two daughters, Roy and Karen Daugherty of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Kay and Allen Ledbetter of Seminole, Oklahoma, Bob and Sandy Daugherty of Little Chute, Wisconsin, Bonnie and Tom Gieman of Chicago, Illinois, John Mark Daugherty of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Eight grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren also survive him. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2011 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Pastor Tim Tate will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma.
