John "Jub" Cumpton

John Walter “Jub” Cumpton, 78 year old Seminole resident, passed away from this life on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at home. He was born November 26, 1938 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents, Arnold and Florence (Crenshaw) Cumpton. John graduated from Seminole High School in 1956 and served in the Army. He retired from Central Oklahoma Freight, and after that was an appliance repair man. Jub definitely loved life and his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, or just sitting outside watching the clouds roll by. He never met a stranger. John leaves to cherish his loving memories, daughter Rachel Cole and husband Brian of Maud, Oklahoma, Christy Babb and husband Shannon of Seminole, Oklahoma, son Clay Cumpton and Michael Garrison of Bixby, Oklahoma, grandchildren Dacia Bruce and husband Chris Bruce, Amanda Cumpton and Blake Babb of Seminole, Oklahoma, great grandchildren Evan, Syler, and Corbin Bruce, and Cason and Lexie Cumpton, who were the light of his life, brother Buzz Cumpton of Arcadia, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Florence Cumpton, brothers, Paul Cumpton, Bill Cumpton, and Jim Cumpton, and his loving son, Donnie Cumpton. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 27, 2:00 p.m., at Highway Baptist Church on Highway 99 in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Minister Carl Whitfield officiating the services. The family will be having a dinner at noon before the services at the Church. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
