Services for John Daniel Conn, 71, are scheduled for Thursday, February 7 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church in Seminole. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Clark officiating. rnrnConn died Monday, February 4, 2008 at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born April 8, 1936 in Konawa, Oklahoma. He graduated in 1954 from Excelsior High School and was educated at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. rnrnHe retired in 1992 as Operations Manager at Hess Pipeline in Laurel Mississippi after a 35-year career with Amerada Hess Petroleum Corporation. During his years with Amerada, he also lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Vernon, Texas, Seminole, Texas and Calgary Alberta Canada. He returned to Seminole, Oklahoma to make his home upon retirement. rnrnHe was an avid golfer and tireless volunteer for community / civic projects. He was honored as Seminole?s Citizen of the year in 1995. He was a past member of the Airport Board, served on various city committees and was responsible for the construction of the Seminole State College Baseball facility at Oiler Park. He served a term as State President of the Oklahoma Petroleum Motor Transport Association and was a past director of Tulsa Country Club. rnrnHe was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole.rnrnHe was preceded in death by his parents, Carl C. Conn and Gertie Johnson Conn and his sister, Mary Nell Groves. rnrnHe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bettie Conn of the home, a nephew, Steve Groves of Ada, a niece, Carla Kay Atkinson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and a brother-in-law, Floyd Groves of Ada, Oklahoma. rnrnMemorials may be sent in his memory to the Seminole State College Baseball Program in c/o SSC Educational Foundationrn P.O.
