John G. Baier, 82, Garden City, Kansas resident, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Seminole Care and Rehab Center in Seminole, Oklahoma. John was born August 9, 1935 in Holcomb, Kansas to Phillip David Baier and Mary Elizabeth Burgardt. John had lived a short time in Seminole to be near his daughter Anita Smith. John was water Well Specialist and Machinist for the Henkle Drilling and Supply Company in Garden City Kansas for 35 years before retiring.  John served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 and from 1961 to 1963 and was discharged as a Private First Class. He was a member to the Knights of Columbus, loved camping and being outdoors, travel and spending time with his family. John married Patricia B. (Wishon) Baier on January 21, 1961 at St. Mary’s Church in Garden City, Kansas. John is survived by his loving wife Patricia Baier of Garden City, Kansas, five daughters  and their spouses; Anita M. and Harold H. Smith of Seminole, Oklahoma, Carla J. and Del Clowdis of Minneola, Kansas, Darla J. and Brad Jackson of Satanta, Kansas, Shari S. and J. Adam Purdy of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Kristi L. and Roger L. Calkins of Holcomb, Kansas; two sisters,  Helen Smith and Virginia and Dennis Green all of Garden City, Kansas; twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at  10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 10, 2018,at the Cornerstone Church in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. Ed Binns officiating. Cremation Services were arranged by Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
