Joe Scott, 65 passed away on December 9, 2008 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Joe was a longtime Seminole resident. He was born on December 9, 1943 to CB and Mary Scott in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was raised in Seminole. He graduated from East Central University and enlisted into the US Marine Corp in 1963. His military career spanned over 29 years with multiple tours in Vietnam and Cambodia earning him the rank of Lt. Col. After his retirement in 1992 Joe returned to Seminole. He married Jamie Angel and is survived by one son, Derek and his wife Ellen Scott of Virginia, grandchildren, Katherine Hartney, Steven Mobley, Kellie Mobley and Kandy Mobley all of Virginia. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Diana Kay and brother-in-law: Dick Kay of Bowlegs, Oklahoma and niece Djuana Ashcraft of Edmond, Oklahoma. Services will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Historic Strother Chapel at Maple Grove Cemetery with full military honors. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home from 10-11:30am. With CH (LTC) Jim Kirkendall officiating.
