Joe Dale Purkeypile, 71, longtime Seminole resident, died Friday, July 31, 2015 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Joe was born December 6, 1943 in Greenwood County, Kansas to Joseph Andrew and Madge Jane (Warren) Purkeypile. Joe grew up in Kansas and later moved to Gresham, Oregon, where he graduated from high school. Joe owned and operated a concrete statuary east of Seminole on Highway 270 from 1970 to 2005, and for 9 ½ years he was a night maintenance man at Wal-Mart. Joe was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by his wife Dellie (Knapp) Purkeypile of the home, his daughter Betty Formanski and her husband Ian of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, two sisters, Jula Mary Purkeypile of Selah, Washington and Lois Shaddox of Selah, Washington, his niece, Diana Standfill McCollum of Washington and a grandson, Tallon Dade Formanski, and two nephews, James and Toby Lasby. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donnie Purkeypile and Francis Purkeypile. A private celebration of life ceremony will be held by the family at a later date.
