Joe Glenn Newcomb, 78 year-old, lifelong Seminole resident passed from this life Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Seminole Integris Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1933 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to parents Florence (Childers) Newcomb and Olney Newcomb. Joe graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1951. He later married Janice Marie Reid on March 9, 1957 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. Joe worked for 36 ½ years at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as a tool designer. Joe was a member of the Seminole Elks Lodge for many years. Joe leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Janice Marie (Reid) Newcomb of the home, one son Michael Glenn Newcomb of Green River, Wyoming. Two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer Beth Fogle and her husband Milo of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Janna Lea Newcomb of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. One sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Lewis and her husband Joe of Ozark, Arkansas, one brother-in-law, Claude Bray of Dallas, Texas, one sister-in-law, Delores Esquivias of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, six grandsons, and two great-granddaughters. Joe is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Olney Newcomb, and by two sisters, Aline Alexander and Lenore Bray. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev. Carl Whitfield and Ken Jackson will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Casket bearers will be: Joe’s six grandsons, his son, Mike Newcomb and his son-in-law, Milo Fogle. Honorary bearers will be: Jim Morgan, Tony Montoya, Jim Chadick and Zane Smith. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
