Joe Edward Collins, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Valley View Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Pam Shirk, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Konawa, Oklahoma, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Konawa Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dustin Smith, Derek Smith, Jason Collins, Justin Collins, Rex Jones, and Justin Priest.rnrnJoe was born on December 31, 1933, in Konawa, Oklahoma, to Arlie A. and Olive (Smith) Collins. He was a rural mail carrier and High School Math Teacher. He received a Bachelor?s degree from East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma. He was a Mason, Shriner, Scottish Rite, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Konawa. He married Douglas Ann Smith on August 20, 1955, in Ada, OK.rnrnHe is survived by his wife, Douglas Ann (Smith) Collins of the home; two sons, Joe Major Collins and wife, Suanne of Mounds, OK., and Tony Drew Collins and wife, Bobbi of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; two brothers, Arlie A. Collins, Jr. of Tulsa, OK., Jack K. Collins and wife, Ginger, of Choctaw, OK.; and two grandchildren, Constance and Nathan Collins of Hawaii.rnrnHe was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Olive Collins; and two sisters, Arlene Collins and Betty Todd.rn Funeral Information: August 7, 2008, 2:00 AM
