Joan Isabell Bartosh, 79, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020, at her home in Seminole. Joan was born on July 20, 1940, in Denver, Colorado to parents Delbert Valentine Coates and Grace (Johnstone) Coates. She spent many years in Golden, Colorado, before moving to Seminole. Joan married John Bartosh on August 7, 1960, in Denver, Colorado, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 2011. Joan was a homemaker and took very good care of her family. She loved gardening and always was helping in the garden, especially when they had a full garden to take care of. Joan was a wonderful baker and always teased the family with her recipes. She had a wonderful recipe for a “Spice Cake” using a yellow cake mix and spice in a can. She enjoyed Tupperware parties and was even a winner pulling some nutmeg out of her purse which won her a prize. Joan is survived by her two sons, Delbert J. Bartosh and his wife Teresa, and Scott M. Bartosh, all of Seminole, Oklahoma, her brother, Calvin Coates and his wife Vicki. Joan is survived by five grandchildren, Garret Bartosh, Heather Bartosh, Brian and his wife, Becky Subelka, Jonathan and his wife, Angie Bartosh, and Amy and her husband, Marc Wilson. Five great grandchildren also survived Joan, Taylor, Brayden, Abagail, Nick and Blake. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert Valentine Coates and Grace (Johnstone) Coates, her husband, John Bartosh, two sisters and one brother. Graveside services are being held on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, east of Seminole on Highway 270, with Russell Vicars officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
