Jimmy Dale VanTassel, 66 Jimmy Dale VanTassel, a resident of Seminole, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 at Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 66. Jimmy was born June 12, 1949 in Charleston, Illinois to parents, Franklin Dale Drake and Catherine Louise (Rutan) Drake-VanTassel. He moved from Illinois to Oklahoma in 1994. Jimmy was a press operator in the Automotive industry and for the last 15 years he was employed at Flex-N-Gate of Ada, Oklahoma. Jimmy served in the United States Army, he was stationed in Germany with Charlie Company 1st BN 39th Infantry, earning the rank of E-4, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter M-14 and Expert M-16 commendations. Jimmy married, Arden Leigh “Artie” (Anderson) VanTassel on August 13, 1983 in Dupage County, Illinois. Jimmy loved bowling, volleyball, horseshoes, pool and tipping a few with good friends and family. He also loved trading vehicles, riding motorcycles, watching WWE and reading westerns. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and good friends. He was famous for his grilling and burnt offering while tipping a few back. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Arden “Artie” VanTassel of the home; his father who adopted him, Ivan VanTassel and his wife Patsy VanTassel of Illinois; two sons, Timothy VanTassel of Illionis, Louis McKeown and his wife Heather of Seminole, Oklahoma; three daughters, Melissa Brinker and her husband Jason of Seminole, Oklahoma, Amanda Wittmann and her husband Brian of Seminole, Oklahoma, Lacey Jones and her husband Johnny of Holdenville, Oklahoma; four brothers, Randell VanTassel of Illinois, Brad Murphy of Illinois, Brian Murphy and his wife Julie of Illinois and Tobby Horath of Oklahoma; two sisters, Amy Cantrell and her husband Derrick of Indiana and Jamie McKittrick and her husband Jimmy of Illinois. He is also survived by 12 loving grandchildren, numerous, beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine VanTassel; three brothers, Ivan VanTassel, Jr., Michael VanTassel and Kenneth Eugene VanTassel. Memorial services with Military Honors are planned for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Horath officiating.
