Jimmy Ray Underwood

July 23, 1943 — June 6, 2021

Maud resident Jimmy Ray Underwood passed away on Sunday, June 6, at the age of 77, surrounded by family.

Jimmy, the son of Gerald and Elsie (Jones) Underwood, was born July 23, 1943 in Pauls Valley.  He proudly served in the US Navy.  On March 20, 1982, he married Oleta Richard.  Jimmy worked in maintenance for Seminole State College for 24 years, and the Seminole Hospital for 3 years.  He then went to work as a ranch hand for LG Martin.  Jimmy enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and tinkering, and he honestly just enjoyed working.  He just always worked, he was a jack of all trades and helped people in need.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jessie Lee Underwood, Janie Frasier, and Mary Lee.

He is survived by his wife, Oleta of the home; two sons, Aaron and Josh Underwood of the home; a daughter, Leslie Underwood of Earlsboro; two sisters, Edith Williams and Gladys Cargile of Ringling; along with many other friends and family.

A graveside service will be Thursday, June 10 at 10:00 AM, at Little Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
