Jimmy Dale Glasco passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at his home in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 63 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.rnrnHe was born on December 24, 1944 in Ada, Oklahoma to Homer Lee and Hazel Juanita (Davenport) Glasco.rnrnJim graduated from Coalgate High School in 1963; he went on to East Central University where he received his Bachelors of Science in 1967 and his Masters in Education in 1976. He was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He also served in the National Guard from 1967 to 1973. He was a longtime educator where he taught and coached track and football at Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, Oklahoma and at Seminole High School from 1968 - 1972. In 1975 he began a 24-year teaching career at Seminole Junior College where he would later retire in 1999 as Vice Chairman of the Social Sciences Division. Jim served the Order of Elks at local, state and national levels. He was a Past-Exalted Ruler of the Seminole Lodge and also served terms as District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and as Vice-President for the Oklahoma Elks Association. He was Oklahoma's representative to the Grand Lodge Accident and Prevention Committee for many years. He received many honors and awards with his proudest moment being a member of the 1989 Elks National Champion Ritual Team. Seminole was the first lodge from Oklahoma to win this prestigious competition and posted the highest score in the history of this event. On September 6, 1989 Robert S. Kerr, III appointed Jim as Honorary Lieutenant Governor for the State of Oklahoma and he was honored by the Oklahoma House of Representatives. rnHe is survived by his wife of 17 years Janeen Glasco of the home, his mother Hazel (Davenport) Glasco of Coalgate, Oklahoma, daughter and son-in-law: April and Paul Clagg of Tulsa, Oklahoma, step-daughter: Ashley Lawson of Seminole, Oklahoma, step-son, Jesse Starr of the home, two brothers and sisters-in-law: Don and Cindy Glasco and Gregg and Trudy Glasco all of Coalgate, Oklahoma, two grandchildren, Jayden Lawson of Seminole, Oklahoma and Devin Clagg of Tulsa, Oklahoma, three aunts, Geraldine (Davenport) Davis of Clarita, Oklahoma, Leeta (Dunn) Glasco of Purcell, Oklahoma and Marie (Lambert) Davenport of Blanchard, Oklahoma.rnrnHis father precedes him in death. rnA Celebration Of Life Service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Kelley Haney Center located at the Seminole State College. rn Funeral Information: April 10, 2008, 11:00 AM
