Jimmie Louise (Pittman) Hurst, 89 year-old, longtime Maud resident passed from this life Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Seminole Estates Care Center in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was born August 31, 1920 in Burkburnett, Texas to parents James and Caroline (Burris) Pittman. The Pittman family moved to the Maud area during the oil boom because Jimmie’s father was a rig builder. She attended school at Bowlegs and Carr City Schools. She married J.C. Hurst on September 1, 1938 in Seminole, Oklahoma. They settled in the Carr City area where the raised cattle and J.C. was a driller in the oil industry. In 1959 they purchased a farm south of Maud and after living in Maud for several years they built a home on their farm where they eventually moved to in 1988. Jimmie worked as a field representative for Action Inc. for over 25 years before her retirement. She was also a former member of the Maud Round-up Club, the Maud Historical Society, and the Maud Chamber of Commerce. She and J.C. raised registered Angus cattle and were lifetime members of the American Hereford, American Angus and Oklahoma Cattle Association. Jimmie was also a founding member of the Maud Nutrition Center. She was also an active member of the Eastern Star in Maud. Jimmie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Phyllis Hurst of Houston, Texas, Bob and Norma Hurst of Maud, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Lance Guinn of Konawa, Oklahoma; 2 brothers, Gonslee and wife Thelma Pittman of San Angelo, Texas, and J.C. Pittman of Palestine, Texas; 1 sister, Billie Snyder of Houston, Texas; ten grandchildren, Neal Hurst, Tony Hurst, Paul Hurst, Tim Hurst, John Hurst, Robyn Hurst, Kelly Hurst, Kim Lassabe, Tyrel Guinn and Amy Guinn; 20 great grandchildren, Brad Hurst, Lacey and husband Richard Binderup, Brandon Hurst, Megan Hurst, Brittany and husband David Fox, Jessica Hurst, Warren Cleary, Hayden Cleary, Ethan Guinn, Jeffery Stallings, Cassie Martin, Crystal Perez, Ray Navarro, Joey Hurst, Melissa Williams, Shelby Hurst, Skylynn Hurst, J.R. Hurst, Brittany Hurst and Holli Hurst; 9 great-great grandchildren, Robert Hurst, Tyler Hurst, Emilee Binderup, Madison Hurst, Lacey Hurst, Lillie Williams, Aryana Hurst, Morgan Hurst and Jakayla Hurst; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Hurst of Hockley, Texas; one brother-in-law, James “Red” Hurst of Grove, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Jewel Osborn, of Seminole, Oklahoma and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rocky and pearl Bayne of Gulfport, Mississippi; Jimmie is also survived by a host of other dear family and friends. Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.C. Hurst who died on September 16, 1993; one son, Raymon Hurst who died on June 24, 2006; one sister-in-law, Jean Hurst; one daughter-in-law, Jo Carol Hurst in 2008; twin great-great grandchildren James Skyler and Robert Tyler Hurst in 1999; one sister Elsie Ray, Juanita Stiles, Viola Hall, one brother, Louis “Bo” Pittman. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2009 at the People’s Church in Maud, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Rev.
