Jim Keiser

James Thomas Keiser, 85, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2019 in Houston, Texas. James (Jim) Keiser, first born son of Lawrence and Jewel Lillie (Dyer) Keiser, was born on April 30, 1933 in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his beautiful wife of 61 years, Charlene Barker Keiser. Jim is survived by his brothers Bob Keiser and wife Patsy, Eddie Keiser and wife Linda, sister Carol Smith and husband David, daughter Vicki DiMayo and his son J. Keith Keiser and wife Derinda.  Jim has 3 grandchildren, Lee Kirk and wife Lynn, Derielle F. Keiser and James David Keiser.  Great grandchildren are Brady and Ryan Kirk.  Jim’s greatest joy was his family which includes many nephews, nieces and great nephews, nieces and close friends he considered family. After marrying his true and lifetime love, Charlene, Jim served in the United States Army from June 1953 until May 1955 where he was a Private First Class.  After his release of active duty, Jim had a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service.  He retired young as the Postmaster in Guymon, OK in 1988. He enjoyed being part of Kiwanis where he served as President, board member on his neighborhood association, square dancing, entertaining friends and time at the lake boating and fishing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eufaula, OK. Around 2012, he and Charlene moved to the Cypress, TX area to be closer to their son and family.  He attended Houston Northwest Church, enjoyed social activities where they lived, outings with friends and watching and cheering for Sooner football. The family will receive friends Friday, January 25, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Jay Ingram officiating the service.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Casket Bearers will be: Keith Keiser, James Keiser, Lee Kirk, Jerry Dyer, Darryl Keiser and David Prince. Honorary Bearers will be: Bob Keiser, David Smith and David FitzGerald.
