Jerrye McKown

Jerrye O. McKown, 84 year-old, longtime Maud resident passed from this life on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Dennison, Texas.  He was born March 14, 1928 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents Helen Ola (Wann) McKown and Floyd Ralph “Chub” McKown. After attending Maud High School Jerrye went on to serve our country in the United States Navy.  On February 22, 1952 he married the love of his life, Sue Barnett in Mobile, Alabama.  Sadly she preceded him in death on October 9, 1999. Jerrye had earned his doctorate degree and worked as an engineer for NASA for many years before his retirement.  He was of the Christian faith and loved his family dearly. Jerrye leaves to cherish his memory one son, Timothy McKown of Gordonville, Texas; four daughters, Susan Wann McKown of Texas, Tamela Kay Wise of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Rebecca Kim Seale of Texas, Rishelle Denise McKown of Texas; two brothers, Tommy McKown and Rolin McKown both of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and a host of other dear family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and by three brothers. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2012 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma, where he was laid to rest next to his wife of 47 years, Sue McKown.
