Jerry Lee "Possum" Stalnaker, longtime Maud resident, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007, at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur, Okla. at the age of 73.rnrnHe was born November 14, 1934 in Maud to A.W. & Lorene (Marx) Stalnaker.rnrnJerry enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He received an honorable discharge.rnrnHe married Patricia Ann (George) on June 9, 1967 in Skiatook, OK and she preceded him in death on January 30, 1976.rnrnJerry worked in the greater area oil fields most of his life and was of the Baptist faith.rnrnHe enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Maud High School sports fan. He always helped out at the home football games by preparing the field or by doing whatever needed to be done.rnrnHe is survived by his two sons, Lynn Stalnaker and his wife Becky of Seminole, and Glen "Bubba" Stalnaker and his wife Kathy of Bartlesville, OK; rnone brother & sister-in-law, Grady & Gloria Stalnaker of Maud; one sister, Sharon Renfro of Maud; rnone grandson, Justin Mosley; rnone great-grandson, Zakery Mosley and a host of other family and friends.rnrnHe was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donnie Stalnaker and A.W. Stalnaker, Jr. and one brother-in-law, Duane Renfro.rnrnFuneral services will be held on Friday, December 14, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.rnrnServing as casket bearers will be Donnie Stalnaker, Scott Bruno, Leon Bruno, Willie Hooker, Waylon Hooker and Albert Flesher. rn Honorary bearers will be Rex Cooley, Floyd Hooker, Bill Hooker, Charlie Hopper and Clarence Hopper. rnrnInterment will be at Cummings Cemetery in Maud.rnrnServices are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
